Our Cause
Why do we run? Because every parent deserves a healthy pregnancy and every baby deserves a healthy start. At CCI, our prenatal program is essential to improving the health of parents to be and their children. We know birthing people can face many challenges in accessing care in our community.
People of color often receive inadequate care and have more challenging pregnancy experiences.
Immigrant populations may have limited English proficiency and require care adapted to their linguistic and cultural needs.
Those facing chronic health conditions, like hypertension or diabetes, need a higher level of care to ensure healthy, full-term pregnancies.
Like many places across the country, our region experiences disparities in maternal health that negatively impact birth outcomes. CCI is working to improve access to prenatal and postpartum care in our community through expanded services, health education, nutrition services and more.
Without appropriate prenatal care, birthing people may experience dangerous complications during pregnancy and labor, and babies are at greater risk for physical and mental disabilities. Quality prenatal care changes the trajectory of patients’ birth outcomes, leading to healthy, full-term babies.
