Sunday, August 5th, 3pm-4:30pm !! Don't miss this Waacking workshop, taught by Diana Wehbi. Back in full effect and ready to strike a pose with you. Everyone and all levels are welcome! Price: $25 COME DANCE WITH US! The dance Waacking, originally know as Punking, is a fiery and expressive dance that began in the early 1970’s in the LGBT disco clubs of Los Angeles and later popularized on the show Soul Train. Students will develop a working foundation for the style and finesse that consists of behavioral movements, poses, intricate arm movements and soul steps. The class will give special attention on developing the character and “soul” of waaking. The class will also touch on how to celebrate the dance socially and apply principles like musicality, and characters to their individual expression. This class aims to establish an understanding of the foundations and techniques of waacking as a dance form as well as part of the street dance culture. Student will work with freestyle, choreography and research, to eventually becoming a well-rounded waacking dancer.

Diana Wehbi is an ambassador and established professional dancer, community leader and cultural preservationist from Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the co-founder of the danish urban dance organization "CLASHcph" and a member of "Urban Artistry Inc." from Washington DC. Both of these organizations share a mission of urban dance authenticity, professionalism and preservation. She was born in Lebanon, half Romanian and grew up in Denmark. Along with her multicultural upbringing, living in the United States has also given her a diverse and unique approach to urban dance styles. Since 2008 she has performed in various theater pieces, taught internationally and continuously researches the cultural aspect of urban dance. Her dance disciplines include: Waacking, Hip Hop, House, Locking and Popping.
