Details

Named after the long time Wheaton resident and community activist, the Marian Fryer Town Plaza is centrally located in downtown Wheaton directly above the Wheaton Metro station. The plaza is home to signature events like the Taste of Wheaton, TGIF Summer Series, and the Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival. This one acre central Plaza includes a 20’ by 30’ stage covered with a tensile canopy structure measuring 1,144 sf. It includes a variety of indigenous trees and five bio retention areas to facilitate stormwater management. The amphitheater contains six levels of terraced seating, each 12’9” wide and approximately 50’ long. A walkway connects the plaza to Georgia Avenue, the WMATA bus loop and metro tunnel entrance, and the pedestrian bridge connecting to the WMATA parking garage. Bike racks are available throughout the site. On the north side of Reedie Drive, there is a fountain in front of the building’s main entrance.
