UpRooted Dance's The Ascension Project, an indie-rock dance opera set to the music of Sufjan Stevens, offers audiences the chance to reflect on the events of the past two years and the world we now live in through the lens of dance, music, and art. Exploring '20/20' vision, the evening-length work takes audiences through an emotional trajectory through space and time. The work explores isolation in small spaces, anxiety, disability, trauma and loss. Through a community-based section, the work also explores our identities as Americans during the past few years of tumultuous political and social movements.
